Who is Fabio Vieira? and what should Arsenal fans expect from the new sigining?

Arsenal has finally announced the signing of a new midfielder named Fabio Vieira, their second signing of the 2022 transfer market. The signing was met by a mixed reaction of cheers by fans as expected for every new signing and questions of "Who is Fabio?"

Fabio is a 22-year-old Portuguese midfielder who formerly played for FC Porto, first appearing a total of 27 times for their B side in 2019 before switching to the first team a year after and bagging a total appearance of 102 games across all competitions winning Two league titles, one Taca de Portugal cup, one UEFA Youth league, and one Primeira Liga Midfielder of the month during this spell.

For country, he has featured for Portugal at the U-19 and U-21 levels and was named in the UEFA European U-19 team of the tournament in 2019, UEFA European U-21 team of the tournament in 2021, and was also named the  UEFA European U-21 player of the tournament in 202. When talking about impact and achievements, Arsenal fans can rest assured that they have signed themselves an exciting player to watch out for in the future.

Playing Style

During his interview after signing for Arsenal FC, Fabio was asked about his playing style and he is quoted to have said "I'm an attacking player who looks to find space between the lines to be able to finish off moves either with assists or by scoring goals. I think those are the attributes that Arsenal fans can expect from me.."

Fabio plays dominantly on the left foot but with a very high weak foot ability as he is really comfortable using both feet. He plays as a Central midfielder and an Attacking midfielder but can drift into the right-wing quite similarly to Arsenal's Martin Odegaard. Fabio is a creative player with a great vision and passing accuracy and ability, a technical finisher, and also a set-piece taker. Arsenal fans can be confident to have secured the signature of a creator and assist provider as he bagged 7 goals and 16 assists for FC Porto in 39 appearances in the just-concluded season.
